The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb

Zagreb’s Museum of Broken Relationships is motivated by the simple premise that the demise of a relationship deserves formal recognition. Starting in a shipping container, and continuing in a permanent location in Zagreb and as a travelling exhibition that tours the world, the museum displays the physical detritus of relationship break-ups. From an axe, to a magnifying glass, to a ‘divorce day’ garden gnome, the wry humour and evocative power of the display is supported by universal human emotion.
