Sylvia Schaffarczyk is a final year PhD student at the Australian National University. Her thesis seeks to construct a biography of the Official Papuan collection by combining the stories of its collectors with those of individual objects and the collection as a whole, thus providing a contextualised understanding of the existence of the collection. Her PhD research was carried out with funding from ARC Linkage Grant LP0218849 and the National Museum of Australia.
