In most residential aged care centres there is much to keep residents occupied but it is usually ‘in the moment’. The project described in this paper involved residents reflecting on the significance of an object in their possession, and participating in their object’s documentation and exhibition. From a curatorial point of view the documentation of family history and of objects that link to collections of national significance is very exciting. But the main benefits of this project are in bringing the health and museum sectors closer, and in the improvement in health and wellbeing of the enthusiastic participants.
